UK age rating has been generated to all of the content of Netflix due to the algorithm
The technology that generated the UK age rating for all the content on Netflix was developed with the help of BBFC (British Board of Film Classification), which is a board that rates films as well as classifies them.
The staff of Netflix got this rating by putting all of their content, such as sex scenes, swear words, fights, depictions of numerous violence into the algorithm. The BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) is urging other streaming services platforms to do the same for their content. People are spending time online more and more, therefore it is advisable to and needed for families to know beforehand the kind of content they are about to watch, and this is possible with the help of this algorithm, according to the CEO of BBFC, David Austin. Therefore, with the help of BBFC, Netflix has been able to do just that. David Austin also says that, now no matter what anyone tries to watch, they are assured that they can watch the content with absolute confidence. According to BBFC, 95 percent of teens and 85 percent of parents want age ratings on all streaming platforms. Seeing this, Netflix themselves gave their entire catalog of shows, movies, documentaries to BBFC to rate through the algorithm.
With the help of age rating, parents can make sure that the content can be filtered for their children, anything that can be bad for the children can be blocked or cut out due to the rating algorithm. This move was appreciated by the government since it will protect the children from harm. Now, BBFC is hoping that this technology will be used by other streaming services to make content more understandable for people who have streaming services.
