An e-reader is perfect for people who would like to have exposure to their entire selection of books anywhere they read their books. Yeah, eBooks need a computer, but some of our favorites use paper-like ink screens that are simple on the eyes. They’re backlit, too, removing the need for an external book light when the reader is trying to revisit their favorite book. Every obsessed reader will tell you there’s nothing like getting away from a good book—especially after wasting the whole day hunkering down in your home office, experiencing endless emails, and Zoom meetings. This Year, the best present for readers is not a drawstring backpack, a literature teacup, a gift card, accessories, or a fabric bookmark. This may sound neutral, but your favorite reader is probably interested in some book-based technology. That’s correct, it’s time to check the fallen trees and give the book lover in your life exposure to their entire library when they settle down for some quality book time at their reading point.
So in your life, do you have a bookworm who deserves any literary gifts? Read on to see some of the best gifts for readers this Christmas season. And if you know a bibliophile still hooked to old-fashioned paper books, I have a great gift idea for them too.
Kindle Paperwhite
It hasn’t modified a ton over the last few years, but the new Paperwhite is waterproof and has more space on board. I will find this to be the default Kindle to consider. The brightness is outstanding; the size and weight make it very compact.
Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus Tablet
Amazon offers many different models of its Fire tablet, and it’s about the only budget-priced little tablet I’d endorse. Fire devices, like this significantly more upscale 8-inch version, are ideal for video streaming and some specific games, but they also serve as outstanding ebook readers, and the color display makes them particularly suitable for virtual picture books.
IPad Mini
The ideal iPad for eBooks is the Mini iPad. The 8-inch display and lightweight are fine and other than reading, you can do all the other cool things—from gaming to entertainment to apps—you could do with an iPad.
Again that’s not an E Ink monitor, but it’s an outstanding high-resistance LCD but now has Apple’s True Tone technology to automatically switch the white balance.
LED Desk Lamp Emerge, OttLite
Ottlite says that this lamp uses anything called SpectraClean to disinfect when it illuminates. It’s a real thing to use something similar to but not actually, UV light. This doesn’t take the form of all the measures we’ve already taken in our daily lives, but I liked that the Evolve had warm, cold and artificial light conditions, plus a power USB port to charge your phone.
