Raising the price almost made Microsoft’s users go berserk. The gaming giant is putting in all the effort to calm its fans down as they had previously decided to increase the price of the Xbox Live Gold, this happened 24 hours earlier and they backtracked on it as soon as the fans started to know about it—needlessly to say the fans were just not happy at all. Therefore, Microsoft had no choice but to disregard it and backtrack on it as soon as possible.
“We messed up today and you were right to let us know. Connecting and playing with friends is a vital part of gaming and we failed to meet the expectations of players who count on it every day. As a result, we have decided not to change Xbox Live Gold pricing,” the mega company said all of this in a blog post as they had to somehow calm the fans.
Furthermore, Microsoft has said that they will do more in order to make up to their Xbox users. The company came up with the offer that the users will not be needing the Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to play the Xbox games, they can now just play it without subscribing for free. The company also said that they will be working really hard to give this offer to the fans as soon as possible.
Increasing prices on things can sometimes backfire, especially when the fans have gotten used to the offers. Sometimes it can be a wise decision, but mostly it can backtrack just like how it backtracked for the giant company. Xbox has been in the console game for over a decade now and is having fierce competition with Sony’s PlayStation for years. Xbox needs to do better to make up to its fans as the competition is getting tougher and tougher each year.
